Venture Capital Fund CFO

Our client, a software-focused growth equity venture capital firm based in New York City is hiring a CFO to join their growing team. Since inception the fund has raised consecutive funds and backed leading Tech and leading software companies (SaaS). The firm targets investments in leading SaaS, infrastructure and open source software companies.

This position represents a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing firm and is ideal for an experienced individual who is entrepreneurial, self-motivated, competitive and passionate about venture and growth stage investing. The CFO will play a critical role in leading the effort to establish best practices and support the partners in growing the fund into a leading firm as well as and setting-up the stage for a future fund raise.  While joining as a CFO, the individual will have to also assume the role of a COO and oversee internal operations as well as LP communications & reporting. The CFO will work closely with the firm’ s partners, LPs, portfolio companies’ management teams, service providers and internal team. To support him the CFO will have one analyst reporting to him directly.

As the CFO you will lead the finance organization, develop finance functions as the firm continues to expand and launch new funds. You will develop capabilities across both internal firm budgeting and accounting and fund accounting, financial controls, investment financing, treasury and tax, with a strong strategic and commercial focus. In addition, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with the portfolio company CEO’ s and CFOs, the funds' LPs, external auditors, insurance brokers and all other external parties that require financial information.

Expected Results:
We expect the CFO to manage and head all non-investment related activities including:
− Preparing and maintaining the firm' s internal budgets, accounts and tax filings
− Preparing quarterly investor reports, transaction summaries, and other communications to investors
− Preparing quarterly portfolio valuations, carry and IRR calculations and reviewing the related policies and procedures
− Building and maintaining fund returns models including reserve analysis and fund projections
− Filing of statutory documentation
− Supporting fund formation and lead LP onboarding, capital contributions and distributions
− Advising investment teams to ensure technical accuracy according to methods and inputs
− Presenting findings and recommendations to firm' s valuation committee
− Handling queries related to portfolio matters with LPs / external auditors
− Maintain portfolio company tacking sheets
− Drafting term sheets and supporting investment team on legal due diligence of live deals
− Leading HR and employee related functions such as payroll, insurance, leave management
− Leading year end audits and tax preparations
− Analyzing and presenting financial reports in an accurate and timely manner
− Clearly communicating monthly, quarterly and annual internal firm and fund financial statements
− Reviewing and improving current fund administration processes and systems
− Leading efforts implementing back office software solution suite

Requirements of the CFO
The candidate should be a team player with a " roll-up-your-sleeves" style who is excited to work for a rapidly growing firm. Our ideal candidate, you will also have the following:
− BS in Accounting or Finance
− CPA/ACCA/CFA qualification desired
− Big Four audit background
