Human Resources Assistant

Our client is a non-profit in Nassau County who is looking to add a Human Resources Assistant to the team. The position is a great opportunity for someone to learn the human resources field, working for the Human Resources Manager who is a leader in the industry. Responsibilities of the Human Resources Assistant:

Onboarding/Off Boarding:
  • Ensure all new employees are onboarded efficiently and accurately, verifying that new hire paperwork is complete, they are processed into our HRIS and managing the I-9 and E-verify verifications.
  • The HR Assistant will also be responsible for the new hire first day experience including delivering new hire orientation and providing resources to employees and managers.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement and return, and systems access as needed.

Administration:
  • Maintain accurate org charts
  • Manger all moves, adds and changes to employee records and benefits in HRIS system.
  • Assist with the management of the company HRIS database.
  • Support HR team with ad hoc projects, as needed.

Employee Assistance:
  • Respond to general employee inquiries and requests.
  • Understand HR policies and processes to be able to provide employees with assistance when needed.

Recruiting:
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating interviews.
  • Conduct reference checks and verifications of employment status.

Qualifications of the Human Resources Assistant:
  • Bachelor’ s degree in human resources or similar field
  • Some Human Resources or related experience required, prior internship experience will be considered.
  • Exceptional computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent organizational and follow up skills, including ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn policies and procedures quickly.
